Aims & scopes
Aims
Biocompounds is the leading international peer-reviewed journal focusing on biological compounds. This journal serves as a platform for researchers to share their insights and discoveries regarding all aspects of biological compounds originating from plants, animals, and microorganisms, as well as their applications in pharmaceutical and medical sciences, cosmetics, food, agriculture, and fine and bulk chemical industries.
Scopes
The journal welcomes original research articles, review papers, and applied studies in (but not limited to) the following areas:
- Isolation, extraction, and analysis of biocompounds
Advanced and high-throughput methods for screening, extraction, isolation, purification, and analytical characterization of natural and bioactive compounds. - Metabolic pathways of biocompounds
Studies of biosynthesis pathways in living organisms, metabolic engineering approaches, as well as the use of omics technologies (genomics, proteomics, metabolomics) for pathway elucidation and functional characterization. - Synthesis of biocompounds
Development of biochemical, chemical, and green synthetic strategies for in vitro, cell-free, and stereoselective synthesis of biologically active compounds and their derivatives. - Biotechnology and bioengineering in the production of biocompounds
Strain improvement, synthetic biology approaches, genetic engineering, fermentation technology, and large-scale industrial production and optimization of biocompounds using advanced bioprocessing techniques. - Drug discovery, drug design, and delivery systems
Design and development of novel drugs based on natural products, computational drug design, nano-based delivery systems, targeted drug delivery, and formulation technologies. - In vitro and in vivo biological studies
Evaluation of pharmacological activities including antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and other bioactivities through cellular and animal model studies. - Purification and downstream processing of biocompounds
Efficient and innovative downstream techniques for separation, recovery, purification, and industrial-scale processing of bioactive compounds. - Biological activity and applications of biocompounds
Evaluation of applications in pharmaceutical and medical sciences, cosmetics, food technology, agriculture (including biopesticides and growth regulators), and fine and bulk chemical industries.
Biocompounds are chemical compounds obtained from plants, animals, and microorganisms. They are of interest due to their natural origin and unique properties, offering sustainable alternatives to conventional chemical compounds and demonstrating significant potential across multiple industrial and scientific applications. Authors must clearly state in the cover letter: (a) why the studied material qualifies as “Biocompounds”; (b) how the study fits within the Aims and Scope of the journal; and (c) what the novelty and innovation of the study are. Manuscripts lacking clear relevance to Biocompounds will be rejected as out of scope.
